About the Children's Healthcare Assistant (HCA) job in Oldbury

As a Children's Healthcare Assistant (HCA) in Oldbury, you’ll join a specialist school team supporting children with SEND and complex health needs. Your role will focus on ensuring students feel safe, supported, and able to engage in school life.

You’ll provide both individual and shared care, assisting with medical needs such as tracheostomy care and diabetes, while adapting to the daily demands of the school environment.

Working within a multidisciplinary team, you’ll help deliver consistent, high-quality support.

A valid UK driving licence is essential, along with the flexibility to choose your preferred shift pattern.

  • Knowledge of supporting complex medical needs, including tracheostomy
  • Confidence following structured care plans
  • SLD & complex needs experience
  • PMVA trained
  • Strong understanding of child-centred support
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Strong teamwork with multidisciplinary staff
  • Compassionate and child-centred mindset
  • Effective communication skills
  • Good attention to detail in reporting
  • Flexibility throughout the school day
  • Understanding of safeguarding principles
  • Valid UK driving licence
