About the Children's Healthcare Assistant (HCA) job in Northamptonshire & Southwell
As a Children's Healthcare Assistant (HCA) in Northamptonshire & Southwell, you’ll provide high-quality, compassionate care to children and young people within a specialist SEND school environment. Working alongside teachers, nurses, and therapy teams, you’ll support students with complex medical and additional needs, helping them access education in a safe and structured setting.
Your role will involve delivering a combination of one-to-one and flexible group support, depending on the needs of the students throughout the day. This may include assisting with tracheostomy care, diabetes management, and other complex conditions, always following detailed care plans and responding to changing priorities within the school.
You’ll contribute to a calm, supportive atmosphere that enables students to take part in learning, social interaction, and daily routines, while collaborating closely with a multidisciplinary team to ensure consistent, person-centred care.
A valid UK driving licence is required for this role. You’ll also have the option to choose shift patterns that fit around your lifestyle, with flexibility across school-hour placements and daytime work.

What you'll bring
- Experience working with children in a care or Children’s Healthcare Assistant role
- Awareness of tracheostomy and clinical care tasks
