About the Complex Care Healthcare Assistant (HCA) job in South Ockendon
As a Complex Care Healthcare Assistant (HCA) in South Ockendon, you’ll provide essential support to individuals with complex needs living in care home environments.
You’ll assist with both personal and clinical aspects of care, ensuring residents receive safe, respectful, and person-centred support tailored to their individual needs.
Working alongside experienced carers and nursing staff, you’ll help maintain a calm and well-coordinated care setting.

- Minimum 12 months’ care experience
Training in the following:
- Tracheostomy
- Nebulisation
- Suctioning
- Cough Assist
- Oxygen Therapy
- Epilepsy

What you'll do
- Deliver tailored complex care support
- Promote independence and wellbeing
- Assist with daily personal care
- Support safe mobility and handling
- Prepare meals and encourage fluid intake
- Administer medication correctly
- Monitor vital signs and changes
- Carry out ECG procedures
- Support wound care and dressings
- Assist with blood sampling
- Perform Doppler monitoring
- Support B12 injections
- Provide companionship
- Maintain a safe, hygienic environment
- Report concerns promptly
- Work with multidisciplinary teams
- Record care accurately
- 6+ months UK Complex Care Healthcare Assistant (HCA) experience in a care home or nursing setting
- A calm, compassionate and patient approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Reliable and able to work independently
- Confidence supporting residents with complex needs
- Commitment to high-quality, person-centred care
- Experience in complex or high-dependency care settings preferred
- Tracheostomy care training
- Ventilation support training
- PEG feeding experience
