About the Healthcare Assistant (HCA) job in Portsmouth
As a Healthcare Assistant (HCA) in Portsmouth, you’ll help meet the needs of residents requiring complex care in structured care home environments.
You’ll provide consistent, hands-on support across a range of needs, including personal care, mobility, and enhanced care interventions.
Working alongside experienced teams, you’ll contribute to delivering reliable and high-quality care every day.

Additional Requirements :
-Females only required
-Familiar with peg feed training
-Experience with complex care clients (spinal injury, brain injury etc)

What you'll do
- Provide structured complex care support
- Promote dignity, choice and wellbeing
- Assist with personal care tasks
- Support mobility and safe handling
- Help with meals and hydration
- Administer medication as prescribed
- Monitor and record observations
- Carry out ECGs
- Support wound care and dressings
- Assist with phlebotomy procedures
- Perform Doppler checks
- Administer B12 injections (if trained)
- Offer reassurance and companionship
- Maintain a clean, safe environment
- Escalate changes in condition
- Work with nursing teams
- Maintain accurate records
What you'll bring
- 6+ months experience working as an Healthcare Assistant (HCA) in a healthcare facility
- At least 6 months UK experience as a Healthcare Assistant (HCA)
- A kind, patient and supportive nature
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and under pressure
- Confidence supporting residents with advanced needs
- Commitment to person-centred care
- Experience in complex care environments preferred
- Tracheostomy care experience
- Ventilator support knowledge
- PEG feeding trained
