Working as a Children's Healthcare Assistant (HCA) in Tunbridge Wells, you’ll provide hands-on care within a specialist SEND school, supporting students with complex and additional needs.
Your duties will vary between dedicated support for individuals and assisting multiple students, including those requiring tracheostomy or diabetes care, always following agreed care plans.
You’ll contribute to a structured and caring environment, working with a team of professionals focused on student wellbeing.
This role requires a valid UK driving licence, and offers flexible shift options aligned with school hours.

What you'll do
- Deliver care across a SEND setting
- Provide 1:1 and general support
- Assist with tracheostomy and complex medical needs
- Follow structured care plans
- Help with personal and daily routines
- Work with clinical and teaching staff
- Encourage participation in school life
- Monitor health and respond appropriately
- Maintain accurate care records
What you'll bring
- Background in a healthcare or SEND setting, ideally as a Children’s Healthcare Assistan
- Knowledge of supporting complex medical needs, including tracheostomy
- Confidence following structured care plans

PMVA trained
- Strong understanding of child-centred support
- Ability to remain calm under pressure
- Strong teamwork with multidisciplinary staff
- Compassionate and child-centred mindset
- Effective communication skills
- Good attention to detail in reporting
- Flexibility throughout the school day
- Understanding of safeguarding principles
- Valid UK driving licence
