About the Healthcare Assistant (HCA) job in London
As a Healthcare Assistant (HCA) in London, you’ll join a specialist school team supporting children with SEND and complex health needs. Your role will focus on ensuring students feel safe, supported, and able to engage in school life.
You’ll provide both individual and shared care, assisting with medical needs such as tracheostomy care and diabetes, while adapting to the daily demands of the school environment.
Working within a multidisciplinary team, you’ll help deliver consistent, high-quality support.
A valid UK driving licence is essential, along with the flexibility to choose your preferred shift pattern.

What you'll do
- Provide care tailored to each student
- Support tracheostomy and complex health needs
- Deliver 1:1 or shared support as needed

- Monitor wellbeing and respond quickly
- Keep records up to date
What you'll bring
- Experience working as a Children’s Healthcare Assistant or in a similar care/SEND role
- Confidence supporting tracheostomy and complex clinical needs (or willingness to train)
- A calm, measured response in medical situations

PMVA trained
- Strong understanding of child-centred support
- Understanding of person-centred care plans
- Strong communication with staff and families
- A caring, patient approach with children
- Ability to work 1:1 and across groups
- Awareness of safeguarding practices
- Good record-keeping skills
- Flexible and adaptable attitude
