Modern Slavery Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement is made on behalf of Medicare People in accordance with the Modern Slavery Act 2015.
It sets out the steps we take to prevent modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, and exploitation within our business operations and supply chains.
Our Organisation
Medicare People provides medical staffing services to healthcare providers across the UK and delivers regulated in‑home care services directly to individuals. We operate in a sector where the risk of exploitation can exist, and we are committed to acting ethically, transparently, and responsibly.
Our Commitment
We do not tolerate modern slavery or human trafficking in any form. We are committed to safeguarding the rights and wellbeing of everyone who works with us or receives care from us. We ensure all workers are treated fairly, paid correctly, and protected from any form of coercion or abuse.
Recruitment and Employment
All clinicians, carers, and staff engaged by Medicare People are recruited through safe, responsible, and compliant processes. This includes:
- Identity and right‑to‑work checks
- Enhanced DBS checks
- Validation of references and qualifications
- PAYE employment only (no umbrella or self‑employment models that increase risk)
- Monitoring for signs of financial exploitation or coercion
We provide clear contracts, transparent pay, and accessible communication channels for concerns.
In‑Home Care and Worker Protection
Our care teams work closely with vulnerable individuals, and we take additional steps to ensure safety and transparency. We maintain regular contact with staff, monitor wellbeing, provide clear reporting routes, and train teams to recognise signs of exploitation in both workers and the people we support.
Supply Chain
Our supply chain is low‑risk and primarily involves technology providers, background‑check services, training partners, and professional suppliers. We work only with organisations that share our commitment to ethical practices and may conduct checks where appropriate to ensure compliance.
Training and Awareness
All staff involved in recruitment, coordination, and care delivery receive training on identifying and reporting concerns related to modern slavery or human trafficking. We actively promote a culture of vigilance and ensure everyone understands their responsibility to speak up.
Reporting Concerns
We encourage staff, clients, care recipients, and partners to report any concerns. Reports can be made confidentially to our management team. We investigate all allegations promptly, fairly, and with appropriate escalation to safeguarding authorities where required.
Continuous Improvement
We regularly review our policies, training, and procedures to strengthen our approach to preventing modern slavery. We remain committed to improving our processes and raising awareness across our organisation.
Approval
This statement has been approved by Medicare People’s leadership team and will be reviewed and updated annually.
