How We Select Our Carers & Nurses

At Medicare People, we believe that the right people make all the difference. That’s why our selection and appointment process is designed to identify individuals who are not only skilled and experienced, but genuinely compassionate, dependable, and aligned with our values. Whether supporting Domiciliary Care, Live‑In Care, Live‑In Nursing, or working within care homes, nursing homes, NHS hospitals, or private healthcare, every professional must meet our strict standards before joining our community.

Our Selection Process Includes:

  • Multi‑stage interviews assessing skill, communication, professionalism, and values.
  • Clinical vetting for nurses, conducted by senior clinical leaders.
  • Full compliance checks, including DBS, right‑to‑work, references, ID, and employment history.
  • Practical and scenario‑based assessments to ensure real‑world competence.
  • Specialist suitability checks for Live‑In Care and Live‑In Nursing roles.
  • Values‑based screening, ensuring a genuine commitment to dignity, kindness, and respect.

Only when a candidate passes every stage of our process are they appointed to represent Medicare People.

All carers and nurses undergo strict qualification checks, including training verification, clinical competency assessments for nurses, and evidence of professional experience. Nothing is approved without full compliance.

We complete enhanced DBS checks, identity verification, reference checks, right‑to‑work verification, and full employment history reviews. Safety comes first, always.

Interviews are led by experienced care professionals, and all nursing vetting is overseen by senior clinical leaders to ensure competency, professionalism, and adherence to best practice.

We conduct additional screening around lifestyle fit, lone‑working capability, safeguarding awareness, and the ability to work independently in a home environment.

Yes. All carers and nurses must have up‑to‑date mandatory training, and we provide refreshers, updates, and specialist modules where required before they are appointed.

Because we believe trust is earned. Families, patients, and healthcare organisations rely on us for safe, professional, compassionate support - and that starts with choosing only the very best people.
